[HT-R520 and PSW-D112] RCA cable and subwoofer cable?

Hi All,

I am a newbie in Home Theater systems. Due apologies for any ignorance. I have a HT-R250 Amplifier and JBL PSW-D112 subwoofer (recently bought). Both the Amp and the Subwoofer ends have one connection each. Amplifier has "Subwoofer OUT" and Subwoofer has "Direct"

My question is that I have a component AV cable (i.e both the ends have 3 plugs - Yellow, White, Red) I am currently using the red connector at both the ends of the cable to connect to my Amp and the Sub .. But I do not hear any sound from the sub?

Or do I need to buy a Coaxial Digital/ Subwoofer Audio Cable for this to work?

Or I am totally missing something? Please help

Appreciate your response.

Thanks
