Re: What's wrong with bare copper-wire speaker connections?

I agree that bare copper wire connections sound the best but one has to remember that spades and bananas offer neatness and are way easier to connect than threading a stranded/solid copper wire thru the binding post shaft hole and then screwing down the nut/cap.

I use bare wires on the speaker connections on a pair of tri-wired Alon Lotus SE mklll's and do notice that the binding posts do work somewhat loose over time so that right there is one drawback as one can really tighten down on a spade, assuming the quality of the binding post/spade is up to it :-)

The other drawback is loss of resolution thru the connection of the wire/connector and also the quality of metals the connectors are made of will certainly have an effect on the sound.

In addition, the only bananas that I would consider would be the split shaft type BFA bananas as shown. The traditional bananas just don't offer the contact surface area nor the necessary mating integrity to be considered a "High end" connector.
