Home Cable Asylum

Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

Seriously?

MAC cables sound good enough to take the place of Luminous Synchestra References? Man. That's hard to believe. I run TG Audio speaker cables and jumpers, which are basically Luminous cables reworked, and after searching high and low going through I don't know how many sets of cables I swore that I'd never do better than those. Of course, they aren't as pretty as Luminous's finished products, but, IMO, they are simply amazing for all they do and don't do at the same time. As in stunning.

I'm in the market for a new pair of IC's for a headphone rig I am building. I have all but made up my mind to go with Luminous...but those MAC's aren't all that expensive...can you give any more of a description as to the sound of the MAC's? The thing I prize about my TG Audio cables is their ability to deliver killer detail without revealing themselves in the process. They are able to deliver a complete and accurate sonic description of the music while remaining absolutely neutral -- like they are not even there, and like they are adding nothing to the sound. It's hard to describe, actually. But these cables do what I am struggling to describe better than, and unlike, any other cable I have tried. It's all there, but the cable is not, if that makes any sense. Other cables I have tried will add slight colorations to the sonic signature, maybe a tinge of this or that, or drop a frequency, or highlight another. Not the TG's -- it's all of the music, no more, no less. In fact, it is not hard to imagine scenarios where some people might actually be disappointed in the TG's because they aren't doing something more.

Now, maybe that's not how you view the Luminous cables...and maybe the TG's are different from the Luminous cables in so much of a way that my description fails to meet your experience and I have made no sense to you whatsoever. But if I do make sense, can you try to explain why you now favor the MAC's?

I am sure this is well more than you bargained for, but I'd really appreciate it.
