Who knows. All that could just mean Sonos/Bel Canto combo just may have better Toslink implementation than coax.
Dont' dismiss coax until you try some really good digital coax ouput and inputs utilizing transformer isolation along with a better digital cable, at least the new Stereovox XV2.
