You may find that the best sounding one may cost $5-$20On my DAC, the best sounding cord just happened to be a Volex 17604 shielded 14gauge cord. I think it cost $8?
That cord did not work so great on the amp however. It slowed the bass down and blurred the center image. The one that sounded best on my amp was just a simple 14Gauge 3 conductor Exito unshielded cord. The funny thing was, after trying some fancy ones, is that this is what came with my amp from Bryston. Maybe they state that power cords don't matter because they happen to ship with one that works well with their stuff. Who knows.
That reminds me; With my Goldmund SRI, it sounded best with the stock power cord. That was a nice cord. Nothing else I tried could match it.
I think the most expensive power cord I tried was about $80 so I did not try the real fancy ones. Sorry but even if I won the lottery, the logical side of me is too strong for me to spend any more than that on the power cord.
I do have to laugh that the two cords that worked the best were just simple quality.
ps. For a stop-gap solution to your power conditioner, this will help for the digital stuff. I picked up a Furman PST-8 digital power strip for something like $120. It really warmed up the sound while also bringing out the soundstage and detail. The system consistently sounds pretty much the same whereas before it was a crapshoot. I only use it for my sources as it killed the performance of my Bryston.
I hope this helps or at least you got a chuckle out of this.
Bill
