Hi.Like everything else, splicing wires & cables changes the sound, better or worse.
Years back, when I built the dedicated power lines/ground wire separately for my analogue gears (LP turntable, tape deck, phonostage/linestage & power amps), & for my digital gears, DVD-audio & CD players, from the fuse panel. I decided to use better powerline cable than those crappie building wires, like THHN, XHHW & RW90.
Since the dedicated powerlines are laid on the floor, OUTSIDE the house structure, so non-building wires can be used legically.
I chose auido grade power cables with oxygen free high conductivity.
To get the best sound I like, I spliced half-half of two different types of cables to form one run, one each separaely for my analogue & digital gears (MEVER share analogue & digital stuff in same powerlne!).Yes, by splicing the powerlines, I was able to 'trim' up the sound I like.

PS: BTW, the best bi-wire speaker terminal jumpers, after years' painstaking trial/error by my audiophile nutty friends, is very short thin rod of min 4N silver. Nothing else can touch it.
