Re: Pricey Jumpers as speaker cable? You bet!

Hey Rathbone,

What U have described is VERY interesting to say the least.

Having read your system profile, it is of the caliber to enable
one to hear the sonic signature of the "jumpers" when spliced in line with the 4TC.

I do have to submit that even though your getting the "flavor" of each cable jumper U splice in, I would surmise your not getting the complete sonic signature that each cable provides due to the added connections when inserting the jumper, this includes the connectors themselves, and the different cable topologies.

Of course, I just spent the day trying different internal speaker wire connection methods to the binding posts on my Alon 1's and found that each had it's own sonic signature.

The factory had the input Bi-wire XO wires, which connect to a metal tab, that connects to the binding post shaft, bolted up against the inside wall of the speaker. Through trial and error, the best connection method was by adding a brass nut to the binding post shaft to secure the post to the speaker, then securing the tab between an addition brass nut, which led to a substantial increase in resolution.

I can only surmise that with the tab bolted firmly to the cabinet, that the cabinet was inducing vibration/coloration into the connections via the bass driver.

While I'm not about to splice a jumper into my AQ Volcano speaker cables to add "flavor" U certainly have made it clear that cables do have a very large influence on ones system and should not be discounted in the least :-)

Cheers,
