TG Audio speaker wires - old vs. newer design.

Can anyone tell me whether there's a sonic difference between the old style TG Audio HSR speaker wires (e.g. in the big "garden hose" rubber tube) vs. the newer design "twisted pairs" type of casing? Bob was not a "change the appearance to sell more cables" kind of guy, so I'm presuming there was some reason for the change - presumably a performance reason. Any comment, particularly some comparison of the "sound" of the two designs would be most welcome.
