See the bottom of the technical section (link).Don't twist more tightly because there is a risk of rubbing through the thin insulation and causing a short. This is magnet wire and was made to be wound on a coil by a machine that would manage the stresses applied to the wire.
If your friend lives in a high-RF environment, there are a number of things he or she can do to reduce the break-through. Be sure all the connections are clean and tight. Install a filter on the AC. Try an RF-damping power cord.
The problem might be bad enough to require shielded speaker cable. This is not an easy thing to get to sound good.
