Jon, that's one very good answer I didn't really hope for.
I'm not trying to simplify things to nonsense - what I'm trying to do is to figure out how to detect at least the most surface level BS, we both know, some cable makers sell. Instead of random picking out the cables - somewhat knowledgeable picking out. And then - yes, listening - there's no way around. But to filter out the stupid marketing we, buyers, have to know basics. If surface effects matter only on MHz frequencies, and really don't have a place at 22kHz - then I want to know that before I buy; and so on...
