Power cord for two-pole IEC device... question

I've got my eye on a VH Audio Flavor 3 for my Pioneer DV-47ai. I understand the construction of the cable, the shield is terminated at the source end only... My question is: Is there any reason why a cord terminated for regular three-pole IEC should not be used? Besides having the extra useless conductor, what are the possible sonic consequences?

I haven't been able to find any other cords that are specifically made for equipment that uses the two-pole IEC jack. Are there others? I have the Shunyata Venoms on my amp and preamp, and have been pleased with the results. Should I try the VH Flavor 3? Or is the impact of using a three-pole cord so minimal that I should be considering other available cords?
