Hi.For contacts, the best is gold plated to avoid corrosion due to oxidation. Therefore we haveplugs, jacks, lugs, pins all gold plated.
Silver is a better electrical conductor than gold, but oxides easily, so gold plated on the silver surface to avoid corrosion due to oxidation.
That's why all my DIY pure Ag ICs & power cords are built air-tight
to prevent the silver wires inside from tarnishing. Done properly, no goldplating on the silver conductors so far needed.I auditioned a pair European brandname gold on silver interconnects,
not bad sounding but it tagged for a staggering USD4,000!
