PC goes kaput

Hooked up some brand new AQ Colorado ICs between amp and pre this AM and spent most the day listening to music. This afternoon between CDs I hear this intermittent buzz that lasts about 3 seconds, stops for 30-40 seconds, then starts again. Like someone is pressing a doorbell, there is a definite pattern. I figure it's the new ICs, and switch them out. Same deal. Isolated the buzz to the amp and figured the amp was the problem, but, just to be sure, switched the amp PC to a different outlet on the PS Duet. Same deal. Last resort, I switch the PC on the amp and...no buzz.

Removed the amp PC that was causing this. Luckily I have a back-up PC. The PC that was causing the buzz is a Signal PC I've been using on and off for a few years and I've never had any problems with it. It was barely touched when I switched ICs and has been in a stable position for several months.

What I don't understand is why the buzz it generated was intermittent, yet formed a pattern. Wouldn't it have just caused a constant buzz, or just not worked? Baffling!

I've been meaning to upgrade this PC for a while and got distracted by new ICs. Now's the time!
