Coiling the wire, even if you don't leave it on the floor, can result in poorer cable performance - by coiling it, you've actually made an inductor.From what I've read, the best way to store extra cable is to either snake it back-and-forth in little Ss, or if you must coil it, do so in a loose figure eight pattern.
