Although this message is intended for Jon Risch, if anyone else wants to weigh in , it would be appreciated.Jon,
Can you please clarify a few things with regard to the 89259/89248 twisted pairs?
I made several sets of interconnects using the Belden 89259/89248 cores. For the shielding I used 1/4" tinned copper shielding purchased from DIYCable.
The shielding was very thick. So much so, that in order to ground it on the source RCA I had to cut off about half of the shielding strands.Q: Should this shielding be adequate for the design?
The Belden 89248 shielding is less heavily stranded than the stuff that I purchased and would be much easier to work with. I find that I am able to expand the 89248 shielding to accept the twisted pair along with the teflon spacers (valve packing).
Q: Wouldn't the shielding from a Belden 89248 (or 82248) be as good (or better) than the shielding that I used? Also, I have acquired 1000 feet of Belden 82248 which has the same core as the 89248.
Q: Have you had any luck with a 89248/89248 (or, in my case 82248/82248) twisted pair?
Q: Since I have such a large supply of the 82248 cable, what is the best way to use this for a speaker cable design?
Thanks in advance for your responses.
