Anyone using a Synergistic Research REL SPEC cable with a REL sub?

Just got the Resolution Reference today and had an hour to plug and play but had to turn down the gain of the sub down about 1/4 turn to match the old cable which was a SR REL SPEC Phase ll.
This seems very odd that just swapping a cable can make this much difference in gain. (I am fairly certain I did not accidently bump the gain pot)
I checked the XLR flying lead polarity and both are the same. Just for laughs and giggles, I'm going to wring both cables to see if anything abnormal shows up tomorrow.
Any ideas would be welcome and in addition, the RR cable shows very good potential over the Phase ll cable.
