dakiom DIY interconnect recepie

The Dakiom site http://dakiom.com/diy.htm has some DIY projects making some big claims.
The IC has a 22microH coil in series with one of the wires. The wire is otherwise a cheap one they recommend.
What effect could this have in constructing a great IC, or is it just a filter taking away any harshness of cheap wire in an otherwise average IC.
