I consider soundstage or 'recording venue ambience' recreation as a measure of high-fidelity. You might prefer other power cables, but the bass might be suspect in this case. Check whether you get 'heavy' bass or 'tight/tuneful/agile' bass. But still if you prefer other cables, it is your preference :-)
I like to shoot for complete high-fidelity and always use neutral components all thru the chain. But then again, there are different approaches to the audiophile nirvana.
