I'd like to second what grailer is proposing. I have made the DIY silvers that Chris has designed. In fact I have a long run between my pre and amp that this cable really made a huge difference in. It was a two wire unshielded balanced run with Neutrik XLR's.This run really showed me how much the right cable in the right situation could make a difference in the sound. I tried everything from Blue Jeans Cable to DhLabs and Cardas cables both single ended and balanced, shielded and unshielded. Yet the two best sounding for this run were the lowest capacitance attemps, the Blue Jeans Belden 1800F, and then finally the DIY Silvers from Chris.
I have been thinking of using the new OCC 18gauge hookup wire in an interconnect with Chris's recipe. Hey it may work. Sure did for my speaker wires. Maybe a bit heavy for IC's though.
