Evaluating Cables

Resently I noticed that what I thought were very good cables...[they seemed to let more music through and got out the way].

Going from cables that muffled the sound to cables that let more sound through seemed to lift a veil off the music. So without thinking twice, I was hooked....BUT, BUT, BUT that alone is not what makes a good cable.

Not even width or depth of the soundstage....

These particular cables did all that, But I still realized they were not as good, not nearly as good as I gave them credit for. They were just too lively....everything came through sure enough, the soundstage was deep and wide enough, everything sounded clear, highs, lows, mids.

The one thing that lacked was the cables ability to convey the ENERGY, the dynamic ENERGY and emotion of the music. Turning the volume up meant that everything sounded the same level of loudness...which is FALSE.

Real music has emotion, feeling, it raises and falls, ebbs and flows...turning the volume to a certain level is supposed to mean THAT is the highest volume level your music will be sent to your amp, not everything will be at that level. Music has a certain energy that pulses.

So back to the drawing board....any suggestions?
