Re: Bi-wire vs. single run.

It's true that some listeners have found certain "bi-wire ready" loudspeakers to actually sound better with a single run with jumpers vs. a set of bi-wire speaker cables, since the benefit of bi-wiring tends to depend on a particular loudspeaker's crossover design. And the sonic benefit of bi-wiring, even when found to be true for a particular loudspeaker, does not exclude a preferred use of a superior/more pricey single run of speaker cables, especially when a stellar performing set of bi-wire jumpers (or a satisfactory direct internal wiring mod) is involved.

If bi-wiring offers notable improvement (such as I've found with my B&W's), a speaker cable purchase decision is often made based on just how much that bi-wiring option is of value to the listener, and at what price point one is willing/able to spend for it's implementation. It may seem too costly to some folks to buy a pricey set of bi-wire cables just for the benefits of bi-wiring, but if a listener wants to optimize the performance level of a particular loudspeaker that responds well to such, that's "the price to pay" for optimization... The question is, "Can you live without bi-wiring your loudspeakers?". If the answer is, "No", then you've got to pay the piper if you want to dance. Think of how much more a "level 2" component often costs that features superior parts in it's design. How much more $ is one willing pay for such things as premium capacitor upgrades, etc? It's all about relative evaluation, I think.
