Blue Jeans Belden SPDIF and speaker cable ROCKS!

hi all,

finally got my stereo up and running again (had to wait for these cool little machined adapters so i can run big-ass modern speaker cables on my old McIntosh MC60's)

anyway, i tried the bluejeans 1694a spdif cable for my transport to dac. sounded very nice, BUT i went back to my cheapie tributaries delta cable and it sounded different! i didn't think that digital cables would make a difference, but they do!

anyway, the belden cable is more balanced but the tributaries was richer and more "mid-dy." but, all in all, the 1694a blows the tributaries out of the water with respect to balance and imaging. dangit, now I'm curious to try the 1695a cable. it's only $18 from bluejeanscable.com. curiosity killed the cat...

i can always use my tributaries and the 1694a for the video out on my DVD player and VCR (yes, i still use a VCR!).

the guys at bluejeanscable.com are very nice and helpful. products ship very fast too. one thing to keep in mind is that they do not believe in "cable neurosis". whether true or not, the guy wouldn't let me change to 1695a digital cable (over the 1694a cable i just bought) because he said that anybody that hears a difference is delusional. they even state this on their website.

onto the speaker wire. given, everybody's system is different. mine is not as resolving as many of yours, but i like it. (mac MC60's, KEF Calinda, REL Q100, MFA Magus C).

i seriously find the 10 gauge belden cable at $.57/foot to be far more enjoyable in my system than the speltz anticable. the bass is still there, lovely mids, maybe a little less "ambiance", but the highs are still crystal clear and not rolled-off like i found with the anticable. the KEF T27 tweeters extend to 30khz, so they are not the cause of the roll-off.

given, everyone's ears and systems are different, but for $.57/foot, try it. if you don't like it, I'm sure there's a "B" system in your house and it's a heck of a lot better alternative to basic home depot 12 gauge zip-cord.

again, i would not be surprised if their cable lacks resolution compared to the "big boys" like cardas. but, bottom line is that i don't care. blue jeans makes an excellent product that's good enough for me.

see ya,
Robby
