Grounding issues

Ideally, the signal ground, and the chassis ground are isolated and different, but in many audio components with an unbalanced in or out, they are similar or the same.

Inter chassis ground currents (also known as gorud loops) can playu havoc with the audio signal, and in some cases, the best defense is a low resistance and low inductance ground connection for the IC, however, ADDING a separate ground wire from chasis to chassis, whjile seemign to be a good idea, is actually going to split the audio signal between the ground wire and the IC ground, causing reduced sonic performance, and a higher sensitivity to RFI, EMI, and a whole host of mystery ills that can arise. Sheer simple "hum" may (or may not) be reduced, but everything else will suffer.
