Home Cable Asylum

Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

The more separation the farther back to the service

The better it is, according to the theory. Nothing I've heard or seen suggests otherwise.

So it says to me that if you mix two incoming dedicated lines into one single duplex, you're really wasting some of that separation, even if it seems that they are sufficiently separate.

I'd opt for 2 duplexes, one dedicated line to each, one for digital and the other duplex for analog. You're already spending and making a mess to have it done, so why not just spend the extra bucks on the outlet and get it done right? I know, as a dedicated cheapskate the solution you suggest is appealing, but even for me it makes no sense.

Hell, if the cost of the extra high quality outlet was the impediment, I'd let them run the dedicated lines into 2 separate boxes and pay for one high quality duplex and one cheapo until I could replace that. It's the electrician that's the expensive part, IMHO, not the hardware.
