I recently bought an Arcam Tuner for two reasons-it matched my CD player and it has a detachable AC cord. Although I would not expect the AC cord on a tuner to be a critical component, I wantto be able to control the length of the AC cord so as to route it carefully to my power conditioner. ( I'm very picky about noise of any descrition)
I'm going to buy a relatively inexpensive AC cable and tend to think it should be shielded- the cord will be 1.5 metres and run behind my rack and relatively close to the speaker cables. Although I have read a number of yours and others posts concerning the need, or effectiveness of shielded AC cords, I tend to like the slightly warmer nature of the shielded, versus unshielded ones I've used.
In other words, am I needlessly restricting my choices to shielded AC cords from my descritions above.
I appreciate any response or advice you could give.
