Johnson Audio Signature silver solderless RCA connectors

I received my "Signature" series silver solderless connectors a couple of days ago. I am trying them out on on some DIY cable which had the Connex solderless RCA's on them. Compared to the Connex, the JA silver connectors have better soundstage (more hall and rear sounds), better top end extension and better ambiance retrieval.

In terms of build quality they are pretty much identical to the Connex, of which I have written before (see link below). Other than the silver plating, they are IDENTICAL in shape and size to the Connex. However, Johnson Audio claims that their connectors have thick 99.99% pure silver plating and demagnitize treatment.

Now, I am no expert with RCA connectors. The only ones I have tried before, other than those that came with the cable (like Canare and various WBT clones), are the Connex and Furutech FP-126. Compared to the Furutech FP-126, the JA Signature silver RCA's are slightly less transparent in the upper midrange. But the soundstage and top end of the JA connectors are better than the Furutech FP-126.

I have not tried the JA gold plated RCAs. But I'd imagine they would sound just like the Connex. So my recommendation is to get the gold plated Connex connectors if you want gold plated. If you want silver plated, then definitely get the Johnson Audio ones.

My wife complains that Diana Krall's voice was perhaps carrying too much to the next room. I assured her I was using Diana Krall only for breaking in my silver connectors.
