So solid core seems the way to go.
To be perfectly honest I am more "worried" by interconnects.
Just think that I replaced a Straightwire Quartet, a nice stranded speaker cable, with that orange PVC extension cable used for electric drills and similar. It is a particular 2x1,5 mmq (i.e. only 2 wires).
I do not notice particular difference, except price and colour of course. And moreover this humble orange cable is supremely flexible.
I think it is similar to the HD-14 much talked about here, just smaller in gauge.
