Hi: to get back to what you're thinking of, to elaborate on that recipe - rather than what I would or wouldn't - for your own considerations, tracing back to quote JR, :
"Cross-Connection works so well on the 89259 due to the smaller center wire (22 gauge), and the teflon jacket used...."a) the pro vs. con of higher gauge with both the 18 AWG core, and doubling per channel (for 12 AWG of SQ? vs. 15 of TP or 19 of CC89259), dependent on your set-up, and you'll want to be more sure of a tight connection, should you choose.
b) 1695A's jacket is Flamarest PVC - would have to strip it and thus, modify recipe further. On both counts, may seem a whole other construction.
The alternate coax for 18 AWG solid core is the 89248, with a FEP jacket.
Note with either substitute, braid is TC and you have a foil shield to contend with.Sorry, not advising on experience - sharing benefit of research only, for your own trial by reason and by ear, without my judgement.
Best, J
