My initial impressions are that these are the new benchmark in the non Ultra-expensive, especially DIY speaker cable arena.
I just stuck them (well burned-in) in place of my usual $2500 silver ribbon-in-air speaker cables, which has shown off some even more expensive cables in the past.
One thing. CheLA needs a new name (Chris?). No self-respecting, macho audiophile can call up their audiophile buddy and say, "Hey, check out my new CheLA!"
These are just initial impressions only, but I did want to add to the information pool about these cables so others can try them as well.
I've been finding lately that great cables tend to sound very similar, even if they use completely different materials, geometry, and design, but I was still surprised to hear so much similarity between CheLA and my silver ribbons, especially in tonality; they both hit it with the proverbial hammer.
The other great thing about CheLa is that it sounds very similar to VH aidio's own AirSine power cord, which is great compliment to those who know the AirSine. There's the same ease, flow, and natural resolution , as well as complete harmonic development so rare in cables. The disalarming naturalness sometimes will fool you into thinking you have heard more detail elsewhere, but I'm hearing as much, possibly even more tiny details such as creaking of chairs, trembling of brush on cymbals, etc.
So far, the biggest difference from my reference cables is that CheLA puts out images a little more forward (NOT due to brightness) with a little larger image size and less focus that seems to be suffused with a little more air. Kind of reminds me of whipped cream that has been whipped a little longer.
If you have the patience, I highly recommend these DIY cables.
I'm actually thinking these cables will make great DIY power cords, UL-approved or not, maybe with one of them Oyaide plugs.
