I found the BL-1 to have a rather diffuse presentation from top to bottom. Even when terminated with Cardas SLVR's which have a big bottom end, the bass is not firm (I also tried it as a subwoofer IC in my bedroom system). Maybe you should look into an IC that is not so much full-bodied, but rather a faster sounding cable. Fast IC's tends to have a more articulate midbass that presents that critical band with a more dicernable pitch definition (which is likely what you want rather than being more pronounced). Sometimes less is more. just my 2 cents
