Interconnects, speaker wire, power cords. Ask the Cable Guys.

Re: fat, full bodied interconnect

I must disagree. Straight Wires do what wires do. While I would not characterize any "wire" as lacking finesse, they may be described as having less resolution, extension, or perhaps compressing dynamics or soundstaging. A musical performance can lack finesse, but not all performances are supposed to have finesse.

Like many others, I have owned and auditioned many interconnects over the years. I would say that, IMO, some aspects of the system's characteristics and performance changed to one extent or another as a result. However, the underlying performance characteristics (those resulting from the speakers or components) remained regardless of wires.

I certainly would not characterize Serenade ICs as lacking anything at the price, nor as lacking finesse compared to anything I have heard. In my system, they were a better match than the Acoustic Zen WOW or Shunyata Aries. My system is also quite musical and resolute considering the speakers. Now if I wanted a little less of everything I could go with the Straight Wire Rhapsody II, or if I wanted a more neutral presentation or tonality I could go with the Straight Wire Virtuoso R. Point is, all models do not sound the same to me in my system, so it is unlikely that all models (if any) lack finesses.
