Glad you are satisfied with the results. I also found that these cables need a good deal of break-in to sound their best.I think the reason you are getting hum when using between your pre and amp is that this is an unshielded design, and is suspectible to some heebie-jeebies that lurk about. Spacing a shield (about 1/8")around the IC and connecting at the source end only should solve this problem.
I am experimenting with different types of shielding methods (tinned copper braiding, aluminum foil w/copper wire drain, copper tubing, etc....) for these IC's but haven't had time to complete yet. I'll keep everybody posted when I optimize.
