In Reply to: Is the Halo A23 anything like the JC1? posted by mr_bill on August 31, 2002 at 21:25:20:
Unfortunately, you get what you pay for. The other Halo Parasound amps only get my design contribution, shared with Taiwan engineers' attitude toward parts, construction, etc. The A23 is still a good amp in principle, but we have put a lot more attention into the JC-1.
Follow Ups:
Mr. Crump,What about the upcoming A51--series "1" multichannel amplifier (250/400 watts per channel x 5), does it share more of the design and sound qualities of the JC1? Was CTC more involved in this amplifier? I am very impressed with the JC1 and wondering if the A51 offers similar performance and build quality withstanding obvious power restriction for 5 channels in one chassis? They look to share a similar chassis, will the A51 give "similar" performance as the JC1 only x 5? Is the A51 as far as CTC can take a multichannel design?
Thanks.
just as Hondas and Porsches are both cars......If you want five channel sound like the JC-1 then buy five JC-1s :-) It even has all the video turn on/off stuff built in so you can adjust so all five don't come on at the same time and pop breakers....Ground lift switch is included as well on the JC-1.....Just don't expect the A51 to go around corners as fast as the JC-1 keeping in mind five of those retail for $15,000......
If you were to tweak the A23 and the P3 what would you do to them?
Three means third class. Cheap product. Not necessarily bad product, just very cost effective.
...does that mean we can expect something in between 1 and 3?
Oh, youse guys...
Actually there is a 2'nd tier product. I don't know if it is released yet. These releases parallel the HCA-1000 (3rd), HCA-1500 (2nd), and the HCA-3500 in the previous releases, with improvements.
