When I ran Specialized tires, mainly, with tests of Continental and a few others, I'd rarely get more than about 1000 miles out of a REAR.
If I rotated them, I could extend that, but STILL carried not only a spare tube / kit and tools BUT would also include a folding tire.
I used 700x28 mainly.
I'll check out the Marathon when it comes time.
