RE: SciFi favorites

Don't forget TV shows here. Some were very good.

For one, I am a bit of a Trekkie, I don't have the secret decoder ring or anything but I watched them. I do want to get a Batliffe, just because they are cool. You know if someone got the drop on me and I could move fast their gun would mean noting in their cut off hand on the floor. So I want one and now that y'all reminded me I am going to look for one. Some episodes were good, others not good. Some of the best writing was the season cliffhangers and part two next year. They add up to two hours which is like a movie and are as good as the movies, which are also some good and others not.

But those are not the end of the world. Inroads to this were made in the Twilight zone, and even moreso in the Outer Limits. And then there new Outer Limits, there are some episodes that are just seriously great. Though air TV found the worst of them. I watched all the good ones on Hulu. They bring up moral/ethical issues that no other type of shows could.

For example, a Woman invented a time machine and started going back in time to kill serial rapists and killers before the crime. Now think about this, she was killing innocent people. They would later become guilty but they were not at the time. It eventually attracted attention because she used a gun that had not been built yet. But what do YOU think of that ? She KNEW they were going to do it, not like getting a drunk driving ticket where they say you would have killed someone, it was a proven fact that they did, but in the future.

Someone mentioned Forbidden Plant which was great. What about Phantom Planet ? Totally implausible but interesting. A guy gets to the planet and when his suit leaks, because of gravity and atmosphere he shrinks to a small size. Found the inhabitants and they have enemies and learned how to use gravity as a weapon.

There were many I can't name right off the bat, but half of them at least were black and white.

I even wrote a story. It was hosted but the site seems to be gone and now a hard drive failed and it will be hell and high water to get back. I will but it will take time.

A guy oin vacation, no guide because he is like a maverick, finds a cave with his buddies ad there are these like pods or whatever, looks like they are for a body. So he gets in one. Damn thing closes and activates and his friends do not know how to open it. They are killed trying to get out of the came and he lays there for 396 years. They had no way of finding him.

So he eventually gets pulled out all those years later, he gets a new education and between that and 20th century innovation become a rich inventor, and can travel back in time.

The moral dilemma ? He and a few others, five of them kept going back in time and bringing the future technology to their former selves, greatly advancing science. They are all well instructed on not screwing up the timeline. the group was because they didn't know what would happen if they contacted themselves so they did each other. After a time they were so far advanced that they could take over the world but did let the government in on it. The US was so far ahead that we could just pick a person or group anywhere on Earth and just make the disappear.

So that is definitely unfair but is it unethical ? YOU be the judge.

Some of the best fiction of any kind leaves you with questions, and these are dooseys.

Anyway, like "they don't write them like that anymore". ow it is all morphing into autobots with special powers ad all that shit just special effects not much plot.

I would attempt to write something saleable but screw it, I got other things to do. And no matter now good it is they might not want it, and if they do it is even worse because they'll wreck it.

Then I started one about an alien entity who can appear as a human female. Alone, no others of her/its kind, comes and serve well. For companionship, acceptance and all that.

Would you stick your wick in that ? YOU say.
