We had an elderly kitty (Griswold) who, among other health problems, suffered the typical kidney issues late(r) in his life.
For FOUR YEARS :-) every night, after dinner, Mrs. H would hold him on the kitchen table, and I'd stick a needle in the scruff of his neck and pump 150 mL of lactated Ringer's solution (buffered saline) into him subcutaneously to flush him out.
He was a very patient patient, and endured it calmly, day after day -- after we finished, he headed quickly to his litter box.
We were his kidneys. For four years.
He lived to a ripe old age (estimated to have been 20 when he died). A good cat.
Unlike the current crop ;-)
Good luck with yours!
all the best,
mrh
