a well stuffed armchair in the 2 back corners will work as well as
some of the stuff out there. Its beyond me how a little pillow made of spaceage foam is going to soak up all your extra bass. Sorry for the rant I used to have a recording studio and I know way more than I want to about "Oops should have mic'd that amp over there" If you have boomy bass for instance, and a bare floor and one couch, adding some furniture or just plain moving things around can help to make the room sound right. There are some products that work, check out
the AA sponsors' site for pages from trade shows and you will always see some kind of room treating device. Also check out Decware.com
for room diffusers.
