I've fielded this before, but here we go, as Jackie Gleason used to say, again:

How about a NEWBIE Forum?

Just as Cable has a NBT rule, Newbie could have a NBASA (no being a superior asshole) rule. This in not to exclude the general, interested public from "General" or any other page, but it is an opportunity to say "Go over to Newbie" the same way someone might say "Search in Vintage" right now.

While it may not seem so to those of us who take a break from audio magazines only to power up audio web sites when we're not listening to our audio rigs, this hobby dearly needs new blood. And I've personally seen so many instances of newbie abuse on this site (even been a part of it, I say with a shamed face) that, even after being ignored on this issue before, I feel compelled to bring it up again.

And while I'm pushing my luck, here's another idea I'd like to discuss: For those who subscribe at a given amount, a perfect bound "Best of Audio Asylum" hard copy magazine, once per year.

It could be broken into segments like:

Best technical guidance

Best sources for DYI

Funniest posts

And so on. You get the drill. Plus, the site could sell ad space to the usual suspects for what would be a coffee table 'keeper' of a once-a-year publication that PAID for ITSELF with a suitably inflated "membership fee".

Or stick with yo-yos. And watching poor, potential newbies that could well represent the next generation of audiophile get creamed. See if I care.

Humph.
