The worst thing that can happen to an 'untested' unit is to power it on and have one of the transformers burn out.The Fisher stereos are well-built, but who knows what kind of abuse has occured in the meantime. Good idea is to take it to someone who can power it up on a variac and see if it needs work. I can guarantee that the coupling caps need replacement, the bias needs to be rebuilt and adjusted to a higher bias voltage (increases tube life) and maybe needs new 'lytics.
I was lucky, my Fisher came through my family and I knew its history. It didn't stop me from damaging a pair of 7591s when I ran it for several months on a failing bias supply.
