Re: SONY STR-6046

I rescued 1 of these from a thrift store. Also, have a Pioneer SX525. The Pioneer has more punch in the bass but does not have the musical integration of the Sony. The Sony is closer to a Mc and tube sound which is where my preference is. Also, I've its bigger brother for a numbeer of years and is the longest owned receiver in my collection except for a Fisher 500-C. Unlike the Fisher, it has been in continious use. Get a nice set of 8 ohm speakers for it and it will do well. Oh, even if the volume control is not scratchy clean it and the selector and toggle switchs. This helped mine quite a bit.
