A question for the EMI experts

Hi all:

Long time since I posted here. I've had a pair of EMI 319s sitting around for quite a while, waiting for me to get off my butt and fix them up. Today I decided to give it a shot. When I opened them, I was very surprised to see that one speaker contains the EMI oval driver I expected to see, and the other is a ported 2-way with a Jensen Alnico 5 PM woofer and an unnamed tweeter, and about a 2" port. The work looks good, and consistent with the age of the speaker. The baffle was clearly made for this configuration, and the two speakers have identical crossovers.

What the heck have I got here? Somebody's 60s-era Frankenspeaker? Or was such a thing ever a factory option? A little guidance, please!
