Re: List your vintage collection !!

The oldest amp I have is a Victor 245 that uses a pair of 45's from the late 20's or early 30's. Unfortunately, I have not been able to find another one, so I have not gone through it. Of the amps listed, all but a few (Fisher 55's, Leak ST60, Eico HF35's and the single Mac 20W2) work. I haven't got around to them yet, as well as quite a few other pieces not listed.

The oldest amps on this list that are in working condition are the Mac 50W2's, which are from 1951 - based on the date in the owners manual. It is surpisingly dynamic and quite detailed sounding, although a bit soft on the high end - which I actually prefer. The bass is quite extended although not as well controlled as some of the newer vintage amps I own. An overall good performer - better in many respects than the latter chrome Mac pieces. Of course, that's a subjective opinion.
