Which tuner to get and getting the most from it. Thank God, for the radio!

I am working on an Emerson 659-B am/fm tube radio. All the tubes light up As I increase voltage using my Variac, the filament in my pilot/power indicator light blows up.I have replaced the selenium rectifier with a 1N4007 diode and 15w 100 ohm resister.The wires for the pilot bulb come directly from the ac and b+ connections at this point.Why is my bulb blowing? See pic.
