Low buck filament chokes ac in saturation.

Hi I Am curious if I could use small 6.3 volt 2 amp ac ei transformers for filament chokes one on each side of a 1amp dc filament.. I was wondering what sort of filtering beneficial or benign would I get from a trans in saturation? Would the trans saturating and the capacitance filter diode noise or would it ring or create some other bad noise and what sort of heating could there be? I am guessing inductance may not be high and what of possible hum both external and on the line? I haven't bought the trans so I don't know if I could gap them or not. I remember once reading about saturating trans being used as line conditioners.
