Many years ago on this forum , when it was a lot more fun , I read posts about using some of the more 'esoteric' thoriated tungsten filament transmitting valves . The easiest to use being the 3C24 . If you can afford the extra real estate and a higher HT with cap-coupling , I would recommend the 3C24 . Thoriated DHT with spiral filament 6.3V 3A , Ra is 15k which means quite a substantial value of plate choke , which will no doubt mean extra HF squirrels added in . CCS loading etc. Anything over about 6mA / 350V gets a bit of colour to the anode . which means the valve is operating correctly and the anode is sucking up any gas . Ra is 15K , mu 20 IMO this is one of the best sounding medium mu voltage gain driver if implemented correctly
