The degree of "disturbance" created by the power supply cap can be quantified. Measuring the AC present at the B+ side of the cap and applying the PSRR of the stage is sufficient to determine whether the signal is likely to be affected. I am unable to do that easily with a series cap, so I find it preferable to use a small .01u rather than 4.7u for this purpose.
