RE: Initial A/B test between PP and SE 6bq5 amps


That doesn't explain the fact that they were three really different tubes, an 813, a 45 and 6bq5. That is what surprises me. I thought I would hear differences based on the tube type alone, but I did not. It seemed to be the fact that they all were se amps that was the controlling factor. I had magnequest opts in one and 125ese's in another and still heard very little if any difference until I tried the pp amp, which was also 6bq5. While you are experimenting try a couple se amps with everything being the same except the tubes and see what you hear. I would be curious as to your results.
