A few not-too-distant projects I'm contemplating need a good quantity of 12AX7s. I'd like a workaround to the cost, so I ordered a few 6N2P to try. Do other users generally like the sound of these tubes? Is there anything significantly different (compared to the 12AX7) that isn't obvious? I see that the filament requires 6.3V on pins 4 and 5, and pin 9 needs to be grounded. Any other advice on their use?
