Jeez, I thought I was the only person in the world that had one of those. I bought mine new around '79. Still have the owner's manual and original box.

Mine was WAY out of adjustment when I bought it. The Dolby tracking was terrible...but I was too stupid to know the difference. I bought the service manual, and adjusted it "by ear" which was MUCH better than the factory got it.

Sounded quite good when I got done with it. I wore out the original record/play head, but soon after replacing it I switched over to "mostly" CD's. At this point, my 3388 will play and fast forward, but not rewind.

I now have a Sony ES 3-head deck on order, and I can hardly wait to "rediscover" the music I have on tape that was never released on CD.
