Check the head wires, then see if any ground screws need tightening in the power supply section. If that is not it then inspect boards for broken solder joints. You may be suffering from a depleted power supply rail due to aged capacitors. If you see any 10 V or 6.3 V capacitoirs in there- change them out with 16 Vdc ones-observe polarity.
There are many things that can cause this problem but I have just gone over the most basic ones-if you need it fixed by a professional, send it to me. E mail for details, I am in Chicago and have worked for Sony and Teac as a Service Technician. I also have a BSEE but that does not apply here.
